Fall Candle Holders

Legoland by Asher

About three months ago I saw in my Lego magazine an ad for an indoor Legoland in Chicago and while we were in Chicago we got to go there.

This tiger was made out of Lego’s and this is just the beginning.

After you pay you walk into this room. It is called Miniland.  It is a Lego version of Chicago.

It was very detailed all the way down to the parking meters.

They even had the buses.

And trees, fire hydrants, and mailboxes too.

See how detailed it is.  Even people pulling a pumpkin because it was decorated for Halloween.

Ah. My favorite room, the Lego hall of fame.  It had Batman,

A little mummy,

Harry Potter

And Darth Vader.  Help!

When we got too the second floor, we were just in time to take a Lego Workshop.

And made,

Lego Footballs!!!

See? Told ya!

There are some people that are great Lego builder’s out there.  One made a Mona Lisa out of Lego’s.  Yes.  It is built out of Lego’s.

That was at the Lego cafe, which had good food.

Then we went on a Lego factory tour.  At the end, I got special Lego brick.  I even got one for my best friends.

There were 2 rides that we could go on.  One was the Dragon Ride and the other was this one, called The TechicCycle.  The fast you peddled, you faster you would go.  I had a great time at Legoland, and I hope that someday, you will too.  I certainly plan to go back!

An American girl at the American Girl Store by Avy

Last Friday, we went on a trip to Chicago. We spent the day at the Museum of Science and Industry.   After that, Mom and I went to the American Girl Store, while Daddy and Asher walked around downtown.  I have an American Girl Doll. Her name is Nicki.  This picture is of Nicki and I standing in front of Kit and Ruthie.

We got to eat at a very fancy restaurant in the American Girl Store.  We had four courses!  Nicki even got her own special seat!

This is the restaurant we ate at.  Isn’t it beautiful?!

This is a picture of me and Nicki.  As you can see, she got her own plate and cup!

My mom surprised me by telling the waiter that we were celebrating my birthday! (A little early)  I got a little cake, one cookie, and chocolate mousse .

I told my mom that this was the fanciest restaurant I have ever ate at!.

While I was there, I got Nicki and myself matching pink aprons and headbands!.

It was one of the best days of my life!  Thank you mom!

Night at the Gardens by Avy

Last Thursday night, while Asher and my dad were at Tae Kwon Do, my mom and I had some special girl time, so we decided to go to the grand opening of the new art exhibit at the Meijer Gardens on Henry Moore and Lynn Chadwick.

We also took my next door neighbor best friend with us. Sarah is so awesome!

The deserts were awesome, and one of our big highlights.

Cool flowers, huh?!

Sarah and I having fun in the tropical room!

The sculpture and drawings exhibits were really neat.  We thought a lot of the sculptures looked like Batman and Batgirl, but we weren’t allowed to take pictures, so you’ll just have to take my word for it.  Taking a break from walking is always a good thing to do! We were also writing stories during the lecture.

This week for art, we made Winter and Fall scenes.

Mark Twain with a little St. Louis thrown in: Part I, by Asher

So we took our first field trip of the new school year.  To Missouri.  This was back at the beginning of September.  We went with Nana and Papa and met up with the African cousins and aunt and uncle.  Really it was a family vacation, but mom loves it when we can do some learning too.   So we started our school year researching Missouri and reading about Mark Twain and watching Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn movies.

One day we went to the Mark Twain Museum. It was a lot of fun there.   My cousin Clay and I went around the museum trying to avoid his younger brothers, James and Samuel.

Avy and Grace just went around and looked at the exhibits and took notes.

Another day we went to the Mark Twain Cave. There were over 50 trails inside it that were 6 miles long. We went on a tour on a few of the trails.

All of the cousins had a great time with each other.

And are ready to have another great time together down the river.

Texas and a New Cousin by Avy

We recently took a trip to Austin, Texas to meet our newest cousin, Holden Roy.

He was only 6 days old when we got there.

Isn’t he cute!

We also got to help out with these two a lot.

In between taking Harper and Hudson to school, and changing diapers (mom said it was a homeschool course titled “Care of Newborns”) we got to go to The Blanton Art Museum. There were a lot of colorful sculptures there.

I really liked this one.

It was fun, but sometimes we had to take a break from walking.

One day we took Harper out of school and went to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildlflower Center.

We took a nature walk in the woods and meadows.  As usual, Harper and Asher ran off to play Star Wars.

We had a very fun time in Texas,  especially with them.
